Raven moon taught us to embrace our darker sides.  Dark isn’t bad, and you can’t have it without the light.

Totem Animals – Snake

In keeping with our animal theme, we celebrated the October full moon with snake. We learned about snakes in mythology and different cultures. We had a visual meditation on shedding our old skins to embrace new goals in our lives. We learned sinuous moves from belly dancing to emulate snakes.

March Moon – Wolf Moon

Friday we celebrated an excellent moon on Wolves! We talked about how important wolves are to us personally. We learned how important wolves are in the ecosystem, as proven by the re-introduction in Yellowstone National Park. We thought about things we would like to cull from our lives, just as wolves cull the weakest to let the herd thrive. And of course we howled at the moon!

July – Mary Moon

The Mary Moon was very insightful.  We talked about our past with the image of Mary.  Some her-stories talked about the Virgin Mary restrictions.  But many shared stories of inspiration of the God figure Mary.  We discussed the use of rosaries and other prayer bead systems.  How the prayers or mantras can allow one to meditate or find relief during times of stress.  Afterward we made prayer beads using individual systems that had meaning for each woman.
